ON LAND

A holiday at Villa Tal Hamsa can be as active or lazy as you wish, with much on offer for those looking for abit of adventure.

Walking

Zakynthos is a stunning island with an array of beautiful flora and fauna and no short supply of dramatic cliff-top paths and views. In the areas immediately surrounding Villa Tal Hamsa, there are a number of beautiful olive tree-lined trails, with the tranquility only occasionally disturbed by the jingling bells of an approaching herd of goats.

A 20 minute walk up to the village of Volimes is well worth the effort, famous for its local handicraft and Summer markets, while a hike to Skinari in the north of the island provides a perfect retreat to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. From here you will find a number of beautiful windmills as well as the active Skinari Lighthouse, which watches over the crossing between Zakynthos and Kefalonia.

Alternatively, there are a number of other beautiful walks on the island, often taking in old ruins and monasteries, including a hike up the mountain of Skopos in the south east of the island, where the temple of Panagia Skopiotissa sits.

Cycling, mountain biking and quad biking

The topography and stunning views of Zakynthos make it an absolutely perfect location for cycling, mountain biking and quad biking.

With numerous trails catering to all standards, bicycles and quad bikes can be delivered direct to the villa door so you can enjoy a day in the hills. Maps, guides and helmets can all be provided.

Cooking classes

While the Peligoni Club often hosts professional chefs and cooking classes in the summer season, Villa Tal Hamsa can arrange cooking classes at the villa with local celebrity chef Spyros. 12 years after graduating from a prestigious French cooking school, Spyros is fast gaining a brilliant reputation in the region with his cooking classes providing a great insight into Mediterranean gastronomy.

Additional activities

We are able to arrange for personal trainers and yoga instructors to visit the villa, for those wishing to stay healthy and have a detox holiday.

Elsewhere on the island there are a number of additional activities available including a riding school, a go-karting track, 2 water parks and a cinema in Zakynthos Town.

One of our favourite half day trips on land is a Jeep safari, taking in the island’s high point near the top of Mount Vrachionas, offering some amazing views into the swirling depths of the Ionian Sea.

For those looking for additional nightlife, venture to the south of the island to the famous ‘strip’ at Laganas, but in our opinion, this is best avoided in the summer months and the entertainment provided by the Peligoni Club is of a much more superior quality.
