ON SEA
No holiday at Villa Tal Hamsa is complete without enjoying the warm, turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea, an elongated bay of the Mediterranean Sea, bounded by southern Italy to the west and Greece to the East.
Marine life
Marine life is in abundance around the island. Private snorkeling and diving trips can be arranged from the villa. It is not uncommon to see dolphin, monk seal and sperm whales off the coast, while Zakynthos is one of the most important loggerhead sea turtle nesting areas in the whole of the Mediterranean.
Zakynthos’ Marine Park is located along the southern coast from the promontory of Marathia’s Cape to the beach of Gerakas, including the outback of the beaches of Limni Kerì, Laganas and Kalamaki and the Strofades, two small islands 50 nautical miles southern of Zakynthos.
WATERSPORTS
During the Summer season, the Peligoni Club offers all you will need in terms of water-based activities, ranging from sailing and windsurfing lessons, to early morning waterskiing and sunset banana-boat fun with the family. All watersport staff are RYA (or equivalent) qualified instructors, using equipment from the world’s top manufacturers, including sailing boats from Laser Performance and RS sailing, windsurfing equipment from Tushingham and Severne, and ski boats by MasterCraft.
Alternatively, Villa Tal Hamsa are able to arrange all these activities privately including kite-surfing and the hire of ribs, speedboats and yachts, through our trusty network of fully licensed and experienced operators.
An early morning SUP (stand-up-paddleboard) lesson or waterski can be arranged during your visit, suitable for most ages. Our trusty team will collect you from the villa in a 4×4, drive you to either St Nicoloas Port or Micro Nisi Bay, and supply you with a basket of warm pastries and a frothy cappuccino before you hit the water.
What better way to start the day and shake of the excesses from the night before!
Excursions
From Villa Tal Hamsa, we can arrange numerous excursions on the water. Whether you fancy half a day visiting the world famous Marathonisi (Shipwreck Beach), only accessible by boat, a visit the magnificent Blue Caves, a picnic on a secluded beach known only to the few, or a day trip to one of the outlying islands, we can arrange it all. Snorkeling equipment, kayaks and SUPs can all be provided.
Our trusted skipper will collect you from the villa and you can then cruise the waters under motor or sail. Luxury hampers with Mediterranean delicacies, beer and wine can all be arranged in advance. We can also help guests arrange private yacht and boat charter should you wish to sail around the Ionian Sea or arrive from the shores of Italy.
